Earn with meditation
Tonic keeps Instagram, TikTok or any app you choose locked until today's session is done in Headspace, Calm or any meditation app that shares with Apple Health. It reads the finished session from there and unlocks your apps on its own, so your phone can stay face down.
Either way, you meditate before you scroll.
Pick the length. When that session saves to Apple Health, Instagram and TikTok open and stay open until 5 AM, or whatever time you set your day to roll over. The next morning starts locked again.
Ten minutes of meditation can bank ten minutes of TikTok, or twenty, or three. You set the rate, as generous as three minutes for each minute you meditate or as tight as one minute for every three. If your balance rolls over, a long sit on your day off is still there for Tuesday's commute. It can also clear each morning or each Monday.
Locked can mean a pause you tap through, 15 taps by default, or no way in until you've meditated.
"Have you meditated?" Tap it and Tonic checks Apple Health right then, and it opens your apps only if today's session is there. If you're short, the line above it changes to "0 of 10 min recorded, keep going".
Stillness before noise
Nothing to log
Screen Time counts nothing with the screen off, so Tonic reads the finished session from Apple Health instead. The lock lifts usually within a minute of it saving.
Reads sessions from
and any meditation app that shares with Apple Health
One switch to turn on first. Most meditation apps keep Apple Health sharing off until you switch it on in their settings, so do that, then finish one session. When Tonic asks for Apple Health access, allow meditation under Read.
"This app has really helped reduce my screen time while helping increase meditation and water intake" App Store review, September 2026
Yes, once the app's Apple Health sharing is on. The same goes for Waking Up, Ten Percent Happier, Balance or any meditation app that saves its sessions to Apple Health. Not sure about yours? Finish a session and look for it in the Health app.
Tap "Have you meditated?" on the lock first: iOS can run late, and that button reads Apple Health right then. If it finds nothing, the app's sharing is probably off, or Tonic isn't allowed to read meditation. Check iPhone Settings, Health, Data Access & Devices, Tonic.
It may not count, because a session counts once you complete it. If you did meditate and Apple Health missed it, add the minutes yourself from the rule in Tonic. They count right away.
Not on its own: the session has to come from a meditation app that shares with Apple Health. You can add the minutes yourself in Tonic afterwards, or use any meditation timer that shares with Apple Health.
No. The session comes from the meditation app on your phone.
