Yes. You can skip today, take a few days off, or pause Tonic entirely, and it comes back on its own. To stop a single ritual, turn it off, which keeps it in your list, or delete it. Deleting erases that ritual and its history for good, so use a break if you only need time off.
Pick the lightest option that fits
Sick day, traveling, or just need to step back? You almost never need to delete anything. Here is how the choices line up, from the gentlest to the most final.
| You want to | Do this | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Take today off | Skip today | Apps unlock now, comes back tomorrow on its own |
| Step back for a while | Take a break (a few days) | Apps unlock now, comes back on the day you pick |
| Put all of Tonic on hold | Pause Tonic | Everything unlocks, comes back on its own |
| Stop one ritual for now | Turn it off | Stays in your list, off until you turn it back on |
| Remove one ritual for good | Delete it | Erases the ritual and its history, permanent |
Skip a day or take a few days off (one ritual or limit)
This is the one for a sick day or a trip. The ritual rests, your apps unlock right away, and it returns on its own. Your past history stays, and a skipped day is not marked as a missed day.
- Press and hold the ritual or limit card.On the home screen.
- Tap Skip today. It unlocks now and comes back tomorrow.
- For longer, tap Take a break.Choose 3 days, a week, or pick a specific day.
While it is resting you will see "Skipped today" or "Skipped, back Friday" on the card. To end a break early, press and hold the card and tap Wake up.
Pause Tonic entirely
This puts the whole app on hold. Every ritual, limit, and lock comes off at once, and Tonic returns on its own on the day you choose.
- Open Settings in Tonic and tap Pause Tonic.Or press and hold the Tonic icon on your Home Screen and tap Pause Tonic.
- Pick how long.Until tomorrow, 3 days, a week, or a specific day.
- To come back early, tap Resume now.It is on the paused banner at the top of your home screen, and in Settings.
Turn off vs. delete one ritual
If you are done with a single ritual but not sure forever, turn it off instead of deleting. Off keeps it in your list, keeps its history, and waits until you turn it back on.
- Turn off: open the ritual and choose "Until I turn it back on." It stays in your list, unlocked, ready to switch back on anytime.
- Delete: open the ritual or limit and scroll to Delete. Deleting erases that ritual and its full history for good.
Deleting is permanent
When you delete a ritual or limit, its history is gone for good. There is a brief Undo right after you tap Delete, but once that passes it cannot be recovered. If you only need time off, use Skip or Pause, not Delete.
